VOB Hardenberg is an offset printing company specializing in large format printing. BIG in graphic solutions also means: producer of high quality printing. At VOB Hardenberg four large format presses run 24 hours a day. With them VOB manufactures all conceivable graphic products from small to very large print runs. If desired, completely finished with varnish or a protective dispersion or UV varnish.

What was the challenge?
To create a firmer market position, it is important for VOB to work more efficiently, focus on the company's strength -printing on large-format offset presses- and become part of the customer's production chain. To this end, the company has set an important dot on the horizon, which underlies several changes and investments, but where the company also continues to actively respond to the developments of the market that is under pressure and where quick decisions need to be made that contribute positively to future-proofing. The Dienstencentrum has been asked to support the company on various certification topics so that the employees can quickly and efficiently perform tasks for the continuation of a certification topic.
What was the approach?
VOB employees have their hands full with primary tasks and limited time for support tasks such as maintaining management systems. The Dienstencentrum and VOB staff mainly work together, empowering everyone. In recent years, the Dienstencentrum and VOB have worked together to implement various certification topics such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Occupational Health & Safety, FSC, Food Safety and carbon footprint calculations. FSC was the first to be adopted to take over the management by a Dienstencentrum consultant, working closely with various employees and automating FSC orders in MultiPress. Soon after FSC, we started ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 in the Harmonized Structure (formerly High Level Structure). Again in close cooperation between a consulting team from the Dienstencentrum and the Management Team of VOB, the 2 management systems ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 were implemented. Meanwhile, all certification systems are available in the cloud so that we can also remotely watch, process adjustments and prepare audits.
What are the results?
VOB has mastered the ISO system in practice, analyses and performance are measured, procedures and work instructions are available and continuous improvement projects are underway. All in all, all relevant topics for VOB as well as for the certified management systems. Where VOB is continuously working on the internal organization, delivery reliability, customer satisfaction, etc., the Dienstencentrum ensures that the administrative side of the management systems is also maintained up-to-date. In addition to the administrative tasks, the advisors of the Dienstencentrum also have a keen and independent view of the assessment in practice. Through experience within (production) companies in the creative industry, an advisor is sharp in recognizing unnecessary deviations, order and cleanliness and legal frameworks. This feedback through photographs is important for VOB to point out internally to employees how to perform the tasks correctly.
VOB ook BRC gecertificeerd onder begeleiding van het Dienstencentrum
Naast de ISO-certificeringen die VOB onder begeleiding van Dienstencentrum heeft behaald, is het bedrijf inmiddels ook BRC-gecertificeerd. Deze internationale norm voor voedselveiligheid in verpakkingen sluit perfect aan bij de groeiambities van VOB in de display- en verpakkingsmarkt. Ook bij dit traject heeft Dienstencentrum hen ondersteund met advies en begeleiding, zoals genoemd in PRINTmatters.

Obtaining various certifications is an important starting point for VOB's growth, both in controlling the internal organization and convincing new potential clients that certain topics are well taken care of within VOB. Obtaining and maintaining various certification topics takes a lot of VOB's time and with the support of a team of advisors from the Dienstencentrum, this runs efficiently and employees are well able to take responsibility and make their contribution.

The Dienstencentrum can provide support to companies that want to get a "jump start" on implementing a structure that meets national and international standards to become certified.
In addition, the Dienstencentrum can function as flexible staff capacity and jump in at times when a company has limited internal capacity to perform operational tasks to maintain certified systems or induct and train new employees with Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, or Environmental tasks. Scaling up and down flexible capacity based on the need within a company provides the customized solution of a KAM coordinator.
